Soccer Problems
"The coach must constantly try to create situations
which will stimulate players to perform certain soccer actions better, more frequently
in sequence, or faster."1

Midfielders do not read the game.
Objectives. Create a situation where the midfielders can "stop, look and see" before they have to act.
Organization. Basic game field with a small goal at each end.
Rules. No goalkeepers. Restarts are at midfield close to the touchline. Players can stand anywhere but defenders must be at least 2 yards from the ball, then allow defenders to get closer. Game starts when midfielder touches the ball. This situation recreates the one where the midfielder "must go forward" and his team mates all go ahead of the ball often resulting in a counter attack.
TIC. Midfielder must read the opening picture and make a quality decision. Teammates take up good positions, not simply crowding forward.
